Bicycle touring Italy

Lemoncina

We went to the market. Sharon wanted to buy Italian shoes. They were cheaper than anything she had ever found back home. She made the mistake of asking me what I thought.

"It will be pretty hard to carry them," I told her.

"Sherry could take them back with her," she countered.

"Sherry's already got more than enough stuff to carry."

Sharon didn't buy any. She was mad at me again. I visited the church. It was time to light another candle.

Sharon and I bought Patricia a small terrarium to thank her for her graciousness. Sherry bought Lemoncina liquor and scoops of ice cream-Patricia's favorite indulgences.

Patricia went out to have her hair cut and left us in charge of the $80 roast. We basted it and basted it. When she got back she screeched, "It's burnt!" and we heard a stream of obscenities emanating from the kitchen. Guess we could rest assured we wouldn't be asked to cook anymore. We just weren't used to those oven things anymore.

A friend of theirs, Alexander, came over after dinner. He had been to Greece many times and spent the evening telling us about the Greek's great culture, the cradle of western civilization. He took our Greece map and highlighted places that were most worthwhile to see. By the amount of stuff he marked I thought we could spend the next year on Greece and still not see everything.

Sherry still hadn't booked her train back to Germany. I overheard her talking to Sharon about going to Greece. Fortunately, Sharon was able to convince her Greece was very hilly. "They're just the tops of mountains sticking out of the water," she told Sherry.

I knew Sherry wouldn't have much fun as she hated hills. "Hey, what about your knee?" I asked with much concern.

It was definitely time for her to go to see Murray. A month straight with someone twentyfour hours a day was a surefire recipe for disaster.
