Bicycle touring journals

January 8 Sunday Bicycle touring France around Nice

We continue looking for the Formula 1 motel today and finally found it. We found some campgrounds too -- over 100 francs ($28) -- what a joke. Sure, I'd rather sleep on the ground in my little bicycle touring tent and be cold than in a nice warm hotel room with four walls and a soft bed.

We found a park, too. There are many people around. It is a sunny day and lots of families are here walking, riding bikes, playing soccer, or Petonque together.

At sunset, the park clears out. We push our fully loaded touring bikes, following a trail into the woods and set up our tent.

Cold. We figure we would be warmer if we zip one sleeping bag and both get in with either the other bag laying on top or inside the first one. What a good idea.

Oh yes, I moved my food bag to my opposite side rear pannier and it works much better. It only took me six months of bicycle touring to realize that. Quick learner.
