Gingerbread Cookies
Makes 2-3 dozen cookies
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup molasses
1 egg, beaten
3 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp allspice
How to make
1. Melt margarine
in large pot and cool it.
2. Add sugar, molasses
and egg. Mix well.
3. Combine flour,
baking powder and allspice in a bowl.
4. Add to pot of margarine.
Mix well until a crumbly dough forms.
5. Press dough into
2 balls. Wrap in waxed paper or plastic. Refrigerate until cold.
6. Lightly flour surface
of table. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes and
decorate with raisins.
7. Place on greased
cookie sheets. Bake in 375º F oven for 10 minutes.
8. Cool on a rack
or clean paper bag.
