Split Pea and Barley
Soup
Makes 8 normal servings
or 2 cyclists' portions
10 cups water
1 cup small dry beans
(navy or lima)
2 carrots, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp paprika
3/4 tsp garlic powder
How to make
1. Put all ingredients
in a pot
2. Bring to a boil
3. Turn heat to low,
simmer for 3 hours
4. Add salt and pepper
to taste
