Along a trail of true
wilderness attire,
I hike.
The sound of the rippling Tulameen River
in the background.
Soft gray cloud cover, gracing the serene vastness of
the wintry skyline.
The serene peace and full glory found in Nature, Yes!
A moderate wintry wilderness wind, rustling sun-dried
leaves of last fall. In a grove of aspen.
Nature's peaceful sounds of serenity, caressing my heart.
In sheer delight.
My wilderness watching eyes, continually roaming;
near and far.
Suddenly!!! not more than fifty feet away! four surprised mule
deer.
These creatures of the wild are more than curious.
Silently standing, graced in Nature's surroundings.
After a few moments I am delighted, to say the least.
One mule deer is busy feeding. The other three, interested in
what their eyes behold. And with fully alert mule-like ears
tuned to the most intricate of sounds.
After gaining confidence; one mule deer boldly steps forward.
The other three wilderness wanderers follow their trusting leader.
To within fifteen feet of Nature's beholder.
I am able to clearly count their every whisker and see the whites
of
the four mule deer's graceful eyes.
A moment suspended in time; a most unique blessing; because of
trust and patience found in Nature's satisfaction.
Oh! The eloquent gifts found only in Nature's heart.
So refreshing, pure and absolute.
