Blakeburn Ballpark Hike

Jan and I leave the town of Coalmont
behind
Beneath a blanket of fog.
Jan and I climb to the two kilometre
marker, on the Blakeburn road.
From out of the fog we arise.
What do we find?
God's spectacular creation, gleaming in
sunshine.
Dressed in true glory.
The mountain air is crisp and clear.
As we hike along,
Our dog meanders through the brush,
where a rabbit wouldn't go.
A pair of willow grouse are flushed up,
to our surprise.
At the four kilometre mark, a light
dusting of snow, has patchworked the road.
and countryside.
Our souls sing a true spiritual enriching
song.
Five and a half kilometres along the way,
Jan and I stop to admire the vastness of the
Granite Creek valley, with pockets of fog
reminding us of fluffy cotton candy;
Mother Nature's delight.
After meditating for awhile,
through God's awesome winter creation,
which has dressed the countryside as an
exquisite glistening jewel.
From the ice crystals, the winter sunshine
is reflected, making the splendor appear as
diamonds.
Jan and I look at each other and smile.
It's God's creation that our souls cherish.
After a six and a half kilometre climb,
Jan and I stroll into the ballpark,
through an inch of snow.
Beneath a stand of aspen trees,
the ground is bare.
Unshouldering our packs, Jan and I
seat ourselves and dine.
After a feast and a cup of tea,
Jan and I lay back on our packs.
God has opened His heavenly theater.
Truly awesome and spiritually enriching.
Staring up through the canopy of
tree branches, our spirits begin to dance.
As Jan and I whitness our creator's divine
angels, guiding wisps of clouds, across
heaven.
I take note of one cloud, in the shape of
a most magnificent, eloquent eagle.
A slight breeze rustles the leaves,
which are clinging to the branches,
through which we stare in awe.
Three ravens soar into view.
After playing on the thermal currents
for awhile,
Our majestic feathered friends, soar away,
across wisps of feathery clouds,
as a background.
Jan and I let our roving eyes
follow the ravens.
We take note of beams of sunshine, which
are smiling at us, through the fluffy clouds.
The sunshine reflecting off the raven trio
makes them shine.
The skyline in the background is also
adorned with billowy clouds.
God's winter tapestry, and glory in the
heavens is simply divine.
Jan and I thank God for what he has
to share.
Getting back up on our well rested feet,
Jan and I climb back into our packs.
Two professional walkahaulics are
homeward bound.
A truly spiritually rewarding hike.
With God's love, nothing will ever compare.
Hallelujah!
