Double Eagle Hike

Pastor Dave and I
decide to go for a hike,
down old Hedley road.
Hiking up the rail bed to
Weyerhaeuser, we spot a bunch of
ravens soaring overhead,
gliding on the thermal currents.
Upon reaching Weyerhaeuser
a bald eagle is noticed,
perched high in a pine tree.
Dave and I watch
this magnificent bird of prey
for a while.
Then what should appear?
A second majestic bald eagle,
soaring ever so gracefully,
guided by the air currents.
Air rushing through the fanned
out snow white tail.
Five kilometres along the way,
Pastor Dave and I
sit on the riverbank, admiring,
God's creation, then we pray.
Thanking our creator for blessing
us so richly, for the food,
which we have in our packs.
Dave and I thank God for His
presence.
His intimate love, we cannot deny.
After relaxing for a while,
admiring a downy woodpecker
feeding on last summer's mullen plant.
The presence of God makes us each smile.
Shouldering our packs we saunter
along, throwing rocks onto the ice,
which is hugging the shoreline.
After a seven kilometre hike,
Dave and I come to a campsite,
where we try lighting a fire.
The wee bit of wood that was
on hand, was damp.
But we did make some smoke!
The day is a tad cool.
Rather than get hypothermia
Dave and I put our
best foot forward, retracing our
steps back into town.
Walking in the Spirit,
Dave and the walkahaulic could,
really feel God's awesome power.
Hallelujah! Praise God.
Amen
