Evening Deer Hunt

I saved my money and bought a gun,
Hunting with my dad is a pleasure,
I'm all excited, my this is fun,
It's late in the day,
Dad and I hop into the truck,
Up the Similkameen Valley we drive,
It's the early evening that we really treasure.
Dad parks the truck,
On top of a rise,
There at the treeline,
Is a two-point buck,
To our surprise,
Out of the timber strolls a superior four-point,
A true beauty, this massive buck, is ever so fine.
The two awesome bucks,
Hang around,
At the edge of the trees,
Come on four-point buck, I say,
As my heart begins to pound,
I need a clean shot, please,
The two-point wanders off, thank you God I pray.
Bring your Winchester up to your shoulder my Son,
Take aim,
Just behind the front shoulder,
Squeeze the trigger,
This is your first big game,
My first shot hit the heart,
One shot Christ,
The eloquent deer dropped on the spot,
Imagine this,
Thank you Winchester 270, for giving me my start.
I love hunting with my dad,
We have a lot of fun,
Which makes me glad,
I'm happy to be his son.
