Free Spirit

Emerging from a grove of birch trees,
Dressed in fall splendor, high in a pristine alpine valley.
Is a superior bull elk, stepping ever so,
Lightly on a mottled carpet of moss.
On the shore of an emerald green gorgeous
Alpine lake. The morning is cool, the breath,
Of this magnificent bull elk freezes in the thin,
Alpine air. With head held high, the tines,
Of this incredible hulk's antlers tickling,
His flanks, an awesome bull elk yodel is
Reverberating across the valley.
After greeting the dawning of an alpine sunrise,
Which is reflected off the exquisite alpine lake,
The bull elk saunters down the valley, following,
A tiny stream, which is meandering from the
Emerald green jewel of this spectacular exhilarating,
Alpine valley. Bull elk feeds on sprigs of grass,
Between yodeling melodies.
As the day wears on, the high country air warms up,
Significantly.
The king of the shimmering gold and mottled,
Scarlet red, and shimmering orange alpine valley,
Settles down on a bed of virgin moss, to relax,
And absorb the free spirit, which is sharing,
This alpine heaven.
An aged alpine spruce, which has turned
Silvery gray is laying over the stream, resting on
The opposite embankment.
With the call of the wild, a family of bald eagles
Glides down from their flight way, and perches on
This wind whipped sun-bleached alpine roost.
Birds are singing, squirrels are chattering.
The king arises from his bed, and ambles over to
The silvery blue alpine stream to satisfy,
His thirst.
While standing in the stream drinking, a pair
Of loons yodel from the pristine alpine lake.
The haunting melody drifts down the meandering
Stream.
It is late in the day, the sun is setting,
Clothing this pristine glorious alpine valley,
In a unique array of glowing oranges and
Harvest gold.
The superior bull elk prances back into
The scrub alpine, to bed down, as a haunting yodel
From the family of loons kisses the relaxing
High country day good night.
