Glorious Bull Elk

From out of a misty morning
through a canopy of trees
a magnificent bull elk appears.
Standing boldly atop a bluff
peering into a pristine valley below.
Through the fog without warning
a reverberating haunting bugle
rolls across the early morning.
Ricocheting echoes
bound back from across the valley
through the misty morning.
Glory.
After showing the day, who
is boss, this superior bull elk
prances along a meandering trail
leading to the alpine valley below.
A lonesome rolling bugle
lifts the fog ceiling.
The sun is smiling through
a notch high on the mountain
across the way, revealing
a crisp pristine alpine day.
Glory.
A glorious bull elk bugle, rings
throughout the valley bottom.
An awesome alpine day comes alive.
Each alpine feathered friend
of this pristine valley bottom
sings.
Welcoming in the splendor
of a truly glorious exhilarating
high country day.
