God's Character

Inspired by: Carol Cartright

God's character is;
truly revealed,
in the fruits of the Spirit.
In our Creator's character,
His love is sealed.
Galatians 5: 22-25
"But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self control. Against such things
there is no law.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified
the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step
with
the Spirit."
God's Love And Ours
1 John 7-19
"Dear friends let us love one another, for love
comes
from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God
and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God,
because God is love.
This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we
might live through him.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he
loved us
and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our
sins.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought
to love one another.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one
another,
God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
We know that we live in him and he in us, because
he has given us his Spirit.
And we have seen and testify that the Father has
sent
his Son to be the Savior of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of
God,
God lives in him and he in God.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for
us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in
God, and
God in him.
In this way love is made complete among us so
that
we will have confidence on the day of judgment,
because in this world we are like him.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives
out
fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one
who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because he first loved us."
Hallelujah!
Joy!
The Vine And The Branches
John 15: 5-12
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains
in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from
me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a
branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches
are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much
fruit,
showing yourselves to be my disciples.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved
you. Now
remain in my love.
If you obey my commands, you will remain in my
love,
just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain
in his love.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and
your joy may be complete.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved
you."
God's Peace Philippians 4: 7
"And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
Footnote: Peace Of God
"Not merely a psychological state of mind, but an
inner
tranquility based on peace with God - the peaceful
state of
those whose sins are forgiven (Jo. 14: 27; Romans 5: 1).
The opposite of anxiety. It is the tranquility that
comes
when the believer commits all his cares to God in
prayer
and worries about them no more.
Prayer And Thanksgiving In Patience
Colossians 1: 3-14
"We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
when we pray for you,
because we have heard of your faith in Christ
Jesus
and of the love you have for all the saints -
the faith and love that spring from the hope that
is stored up for you in heaven and that you have
already
heard about in the word of truth, the gospel,
that has come to you. All over the world this
gospel
is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been
doing
among you since the day you heard it and understood
God's grace in all its truth.
You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow
servant,
who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
For this reason, since the day we heard about
you, we
have not stopped praying for you and asking God to
fill
you with the knowledge of his will through all
spiritual
wisdom and understanding.
And we pray this in order that you may live a
life
worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way;
bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the
knowledge
of God,
being strengthened with all power according to
his
glorious might so that you might have great endurance
and patience, and joyfully
giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you
to share in the inheritance of the saints in the
kingdom of light.
For he has rescued us from the dominion of
darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son
he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of
sins."
Hallelujah!
Kindness Revell Bible Dictionary
"Love expressed in charitable acts.
The Old Testament accents God's kindness (sometimes "loving
kindness")
toward his people. The Hebrew term, hesed, indicates
faithfulness in a relationship.
The New Testament sees kindness (chrestos, chrestotes) as
moral goodness expressed in acts of friendship. God's
overwhelming kindness comes through in his
willingness
to do good even to those who are his enemies."
Romans 2: 4
"Or do you show contempt for the riches of his
kindness,
tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's
kindness leads
you towards repentance?"
Ephesians 2: 7
"In order that in the coming ages he might show
the incomparable
riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us
in
Christ Jesus."
Titus 3: 4-7
"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior
appeared,
he saved us, not because of righteous things we
had done,
but because of his mercy. He saved us through the
washing
of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus
Christ
our Savior,
so that, having been justified by his grace, we
might
become heirs having the hope of eternal life."
Revell Bible Dictionary
"Christians are exhorted to imitate God's kindness
in
their relationships with others."
Galatians 5: 22
"But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness."
Ephesians 4: 32
"Be kind and compassionate with one
another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Colossians 3: 12
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and patience."
God's Goodness
Psalm 31: 19
"How great is your goodness, which you have stored
up
for those who fear you,
which you bestow in the sight of men
on those who take refuge in you."
Romans 11: 22
"Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of
God:
sternness to those who fell, but kindness to
you, provided
that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also
will
be cut off."
God's Faithfulness Revell Bible Dictionary
"The Old Testament views faithfulness as one of the most
wonderful
of God's qualities. We are secure because he will
never betray
our confidence in him.
Deuteronomy 7: 9 sums up the Old Testament
emphasis: "Know therefore that the Lord your God; he
is the
faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a
thousand generations
of those who love him and keep his commands."
This fundamental understanding also pervades the New
Testament and
is expressed in such remarks as "The Lord is
faithful."
Our faithful God does not permit us to be tempted
beyond
our capacity to overcome.
1 Corinthians 10: 13
"No temptation has seized you except what is
common
to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be
tempted
beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he
will
also provide a way out so that you can stand up under
it."
Revell Bible Dictionary
"He strengthens us and protects us from the evil
one."
2 Thessalonians 3: 3
"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen
and protect
you from the evil one."
Revell Bible Dictionary
"He forgives us and keeps on cleansing us as we
confess our
sins to him."
1 John 1: 9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
and will forgive
us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Gentle, Gentleness Revell Bible Dictionary
(1) "Thoughtful, calm, considerate";
(2) "mild, yielding, soothing."
Gentleness is perhaps best understood by its
opposites. A
gentle person does not selfishly insist on his or her
own way.
A gentle person is not angry or arrogant. He is not
rigid and does
not demand his rights or strict justice, but makes
allowances for
others. The calm, reasonable, caring spirit associated
with gentleness
is a mark of inner beauty and is "of great worth in
God's sight."
1 Pet. 3: 3-4
"Your beauty should not come from outward
adornment, such as
braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine
clothes.
Instead, it should be that of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is
of great worth in God's sight."
Revell Bible Dictionary
Jesus himself is described as a gentle person.
2 Corinthians 10: 1
"By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal
to
you - I, Paul, who am "timid" when face to face with
you, but
"bold" when away!
Revell Bible Dictionary
"And Christian leaders are required to cultivate
this
attribute."
1 Timothy 3: 3
"Not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle,
not quarrelsome, not lovers of money."
Titus 3: 2
"To slander no one, to be peaceable and
considerate, and to
show true humility toward all men."
Revell Bible Dictionary
"Gentleness is produced in the human personality
by
the Holy Spirit."
Galatians 5: 22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self control."
Self Control Revell Bible Dictionary
"Power over one's own actions; moderation, good
sense.
In the New Testament self control, especially mastery of one's
passions,
is viewed as one of the virtues that flows from the
relationship
with Christ, mediated by by the indwelling Holy
Spirit.
Proverbs states that a man who controls his temper
is better
than one who takes a city."
Proverbs 16: 32
"Better a patient man than a warrior,
a man who controls his temper than one who takes a
city."
Revell Bible Dictionary
"That is, power over others is meaningless unless a
person
is able to control himself. A related proverb turns
the thought
around: A man lacking in self control is as vulnerable
to others
as
a city whose walls are broken down."
Proverbs 25: 28
"Like a city whose walls are broken down
is a man who lacks self control."

God is self controlled and always forgiving.
Hallelujah!
Praise God, all glory be to Jesus
Amen, and Amen.
