Harlequin's Haven

While enjoying the tranquil peace.
Of the rippling Tulameen River;
Just before, two endorphin-filled
outdoor enthusiasts,
Nature's love, does release.
Not too far out from shore
an eloquent male harlequin duck
touches down.
Displaying his wilderness beauty
of feathered attire.
Then drifting downstream
on the river's current, just a few
feet;
this feathered floating jewel
hops up onto a shoreline boulder.
Sporting his best.
Harlequin's Haven Retreat.
The rushing sound of
the meandering Tulameen River;
mingled with wild birdsongs,
enhances Nature's wilderness love.
Then with a flap of his mottled
wings,
the harlequin duck soars up river.
Leaving Jan and I fulfilled
in the unique sounds of Nature.
Completing an honorable wilderness
dream.
