Hike to Cramalot Inn

A few birds are noticed before beginning our trek.
A flock of red polls feeding. A downy woodpecker.
And a few evening grosbeaks.
A group of twelve endorphin-filled hikers,
leave the peaceful little village of Coalmont
behind.
After crossing the meandering Tulameen
River, the wilderness road to Cramalot Inn,
we find.
Upon reaching the crest of a fairly good grade,
the fresh air pumped hikers, find themselves on
a bench above the singing river.
These natural hikers spin yarns of yesteryear
while hiking along.
Stopping at the two kilometre mark, we take
time for a snack, and a drink.
Then putting our best foot forward we strike
off, passing Fraser's Gulch on the way.
After a good workout, we find ourselves at
the Cramalot Inn.
We are invited in for coffee,
after removing our hiking gear, a small group
of Vermilion Forks Field Naturalists, file into
the front room of an exquisite log home,
overlooking the Tulameen River.
After coffee the hikers dig into their packs,
and come up with lunch.
Each member is also offered a bowl of
homemade soup. Perfectly awesome!
After lunch and a short visit,
the hikers climb back into their winter
hiking gear, and file out, thanking their host.
Back on the trail we are homeward bound.
