Just About

Jan and I are on our way.
On a hike to Blakeburn.
A brisk winter day.
At the five kilometre mark,
Jan, and I stop for a drink and snack.
Reviving our outdoor spark.
The day is: Perfectly awesome.
Upon approaching the summit
Jan finds the air too thin to
properly breathe.
Turning on our heals we did
descend.
After a ways, a picnic site is
found.
Blakeburn? Just about!
Lunch is shared with a friend.
Then Jan and I are homeward bound.
Reaching the valley floor,
Jan's breathing is back to normal
again.
This day has truly been a blessing.
Jan and I couldn't ask for more.
Our friendship has been strengthened.
Even thin air can be shared.
Jan and I have Blakeburn in sight.
We will try again. When the days
have lengthened.
With Jan's and my love for
Mother Nature, nothing can
compare.
