Lost! But Not

Five kilometres west of
Princeton, above the
Tulameen River.
The car is parked.
Jan and I scamper out,
truly excited about our hike,
Shouldering our packs,
we give thanks,
for a truly gorgeous day.
As Jan and I begin
our climb, a pair of robins,
and a number of juncos,
join in singing,
have a nice day.
Endorphins are being
released as we ascend.
As Jan and I near the summit,
an immature bald eagle,
shoulders the thermal currents,
and soars overhead.
This superior bird, is our,
friend.
With a flap of its mighty wings,
the eagle soars off,
into the vast expanse.
An immense ant pile,
is found, along the way.
Adding untold love to
our expedition.
Mother Nature is always busy,
working in harmony, for us.
Jan and I look at each other,
and smile.
Before climbing out of
the ravine,
Jan and I sit, and enjoy a cup
of tea, and a snack.
Then looking up above,
to the crest of the ridge,
Jan and I behold the tree line.
Upon reaching this point,
we unshoulder our packs.
Jan, and I sit on a log,
admiring the spectacular
supernatural beauty of,
creation,
and feeling the warmth,
of God's love.
Our day is spectacular.
A wee bit of a breeze,
arises.
From out of Jan's pack
appears a vest.
Before Jan's shoulders receive
warmth,
released is a sneeze!
Jan receives warmth,
beneath a vest and windbreaker.
With packs reshouldered
Jan, and I strike out,
finding ourselves hiking up
and through, heavy timber.
In the thick of it all,
Jan and I cross several gullies.
Then working our way
along a hog's back,
through virgin timber, and
blowdowns,
we ask ourselves,
Are we lost?
No! Jan and I just don't
know where we are.
It's getting late in the day.
Jan and I backtrack,
every muscle in our bodies
working, like never before.
After an intense workout,
the finally tuned walkahaulics,
are back.
Look! says Jan,
There's the car!
Truly, a most memorable hike.
Strengthened by the bald eagle.
The exquisite view of
Mother Nature's vast expanse
from on top.
This hike, Jan and I behold
as we reminisce on the sheer
beauty, that did unfold.
This hike,
has brought Jan and I closer
to the intimacy, found in,
our Creator's love.
