Mount Frosty Hike

A group of seven, adrenalin rushing hikers
strike out from Lightning Lake,
on the Mount Frosty trail.
The day is crisp, as we begin our climb.
After hiking for an hour and a half,
the happy wanderers stop, on an
open hillside for a break in the sweat
running ascent.
Canada jays soar in to share our
snacks.
The beauty is soul inspiring. Truly
awesome.
Flash, and Strike Lakes, are shimmering
as polished glass, in the valley bottom.
Jagged mountain tops, blend into the
skyline ever so gracefully, on the far
side of the pristine expanse.
After a well-earned rest, and
replenishing a few of the calories that
were burned. The happy hikers move along
the trail, climbing as we go.
After hiking through the pristine
wilderness for two and a half hours,
what should appear? A wilderness camp.
Here we find a cabin, built by the Parks
Branch. The sign above the door: "Frosty
Creek Camp."
Here, the inspired hikers, stop for a rest
and to refuel our stomachs.
After sharing a few hiking experiences,
the encouraged hikers are back on the trail.
After hiking for a short while,
The high country hikers, break out,
onto a slope of tamarack trees, adorned
with golden needles, glistening in the
sunshine.
I take note of each hiker's smile.
Working our way through the golden
glowing tamaracks, the exhilarated
hikers emerge into the sub alpine.
We find Mount Frosty, just a stone's
throw away.
Hiking across a hog's back we
arrive at the base of the summit.
Where we are met by a rain squall
accompanied by a chilling wind.
The hiker's that made the summit,
were graced with a magnificent rainbow,
which arched the vast expanse.
After numerous photos were taken,
from the top of the world,
the wilderness adventurers descended back
to our waiting cars, in the valley bottom.
