Nervous Retired School Teacher

A friend of mine,
Who once taught school,
Is afraid of heights,
The other day while,
Up on a ladder picking,
Crab apples,
The ladder began to jiggle,
I says "Hey good friend,
Everything is perfectly fine,
I am holding yer perch."
My friend of many years,
Peers down through the branches,
With a frightful smile,
"Hold 'er steady partner,
I don't want to fall on my hind end."
A nervous retired school teacher,
In a crab apple tree,
Is comical,
Enough to make one giggle.
Once back on the ground,
I give my dear friend three cheers.
