O'er Hill and Dale

Inspired by: Dianne Marshall

After hiking, o'er hill and dale,
for a while.
Dianne, and I arrive,
at a pond, nestled in the rolling
wilderness.
A supernatural spectacular
sight.
As a great blue heron, lifts off,
turning to each other,
Dianne, and I smile.
Sharing Mother Nature's delight.
O'er hill and dale,
Dianne, and I go.
Propelled, by endorphins.
Arriving on the Similkameen
River shore,
packs are unshouldered.
Drinks and a variety of
food appears from within our
packs.
Yes! a one-man watermelon
is found.
Partway through lunch,
the watermelon is disturbed.
And down the embankment,
this masterpiece is bound.
Yes! the hungry walking instructor
does retrieve.
Our setting is unique,
and truly serene. Here in Mother
Nature's ultimate love.
On the shore of the Similkameen,
Dianne, and I listen to;
this pristine river talking.
Inspiring us to believe
in ourselves.
On our hike back out,
Dianne, and I are amazed.
As we hear Mother Nature,
all of a sudden, shout!
Our attention is drawn to
a sudden wilderness dance.
Tree branches are whipping,
in a sudden gust of wind.
Walking spirits are freshened.
Mother Nature, you are to be
praised.
Hiking o'er hill and dale.
Eleven common merganzer ducks
are seen.
Using the river's current.
Each rudder is a feathered tail.
Arriving back at our
starting point.
To our Creator,
Dianne, and I give heartfelt thanks.
For inspiring us, to hike
o'er hill and dale.
Memories are forever!
By hiking along,
o'er hill and dale,
along the Similkameen River,
Dianne, and I have been;
most richly blessed.
Each heart will continually sing,
Mother Nature's, Wilderness Song.
Our minds will always
be focused on the sheer
eloquence of Mother Nature's
pristine beauty.
In which our souls have been
caressed.
