1 Corinthians 9:24-27
"Don't you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only
one person gets the
prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training.
They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for
an eternal
prize.
So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.
I discipline
my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise,
I fear that
after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified."
Winning a race requires
purpose and discipline. Paul uses this illustration to
explain that the Christian life takes hard work, self denial,
and gruelling
preparation. As Christians we are running toward our heavenly
reward.
The essential disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and worship
equip us to run
with vigour and stamina. Don't merely observe from the grandstand;
don't just
turn out to jog a couple of laps each morning. Train diligently
-- your spiritual
progress depends on it.
Focusing on what Jesus
Christ of Nazareth has so graciously done for me.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth
gave His righteous sin-free life for me.
The Spirit which searches the deep things of God raised Jesus
from the dead in
full resurrection power.
When Jesus Christ of
Nazareth ascended to the highest, above the heavens, He
opened wide Heaven's main door.
With all of Heaven's
treasures in full clear sight I indeed do have purpose
in every step. Truly focused on life with Jesus in eternity. Hallelujah!
With a purpose in each
step I walk the walk of faith, Yes! The Spirit of Jesus
Christ is leading my absolute way. Jesus Christ has taken a firm
grip on my
right hand. I am led in Jesus Christ's person and spiritual likeness.
My purpose is serving
my Savior Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. With this
purpose in every step, I walk the straight and narrow path.
In absolute faith Jesus
Christ of Nazareth has gone through the heavens
before me, clearing my path to His throne at the right hand of
God the Father.
Christ Jesus, is my
God-appointed personal trainer.
My only purpose here on earth is running the race as a winner.
Praise God for the absolute victory that I have in Jesus Christ
of Nazareth.
In Jesus's most leading name. Hallelujah!
My prize is the crown of life that Jesus Christ has so graciously
crafted for
me. Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
