Spring Snowfall

A truly gorgeous day.
Newly fallen snow,
has dressed Mother Nature,
in a gown of white.
A hiking Jan and I
will go.
Blakeburn Ball Park, our
destination.
Hiking in the crispness,
of wintry, spring fresh air,
bird songs greeting us,
as we climb.
Yes! a most wondrous delight.
Just before cresting
the summit, Jan and I
halt in our tracks.
Admiring the truly spectacular
awesome beauty, found in
the Granite Creek valley, below.
The trees, on the slope
across the vast expanse
are uniquely veiled, in
angelic white.
Granite Creek singing,
a serene wilderness song,
in the chasm below,
wind whistling through
the treetops.
A most pristine sitting.
Upon reaching,
the Blakeburn Ball Park,
Jan and I find
ourselves wading through
ten inches of snow.
After searching for awhile,
Jan and I find a couple of tufts
of snow-covered sod,
on which to sit.
From the depths of
our packs, come,
walkahaulic lunches.
As the wind blows,
trees begin to talk.
Billowy clouds are
scurrying across the sky.
The unique love, found
in Mother Nature,
makes Jan and I each smile.
While refueling our stomachs,
the wind settles down,
and the glorious sun appears.
After our lunches have
disappeared,
Jan and I absorb a few of
the solar rays.
Then it's down to
the peaceful little village,
of Coalmont that we bound.
Reflecting on the majestic beauty
found in Mother Nature's love.
