Timber Wolves

Through a valley, heavily timbered,
a pack of massive timber wolves lope.
The alpha wolf leads the way
to the top of a rise, on the opposite slope.
A full harvest moon
is peering over the horizon.
Alpha leader halts the inspired wolf pack
in their tracks.
Sitting back on their haunches
the mature wolves howl at the exquisite
golden glowing moon.
While the pups ramble and play.
After the chilling call of the wild,
is complete, these high-spirited creatures
continue their fancy-free run.
Into the night, eloquent monsters gallop.
Out of the forest, and onto a cliff top, the
ghost runners appear.
Looking down at a jewel of a lake.
The smiling harvest gold moon reflecting its
face upon the placid pool.
Alpha wolf sits his pack of superior
yodelers back on their haunches.
The wilderness yodelers, soul stirring howl, echoes
off the mountain tops, till the rising of the sun.
