Waling for Wildlife

From the Tulameen School,
All of the children, and a number of adults,
Are east bound,
Down the Kettle Valley rail bed,
Jackets are removed, to help keep cool,
A few old rail spikes were found,
We're hiking to Coalmont town,
A couple of kilometres along the way,
We have our first break,
The young hikers love the great outdoors,
And so do the dogs as they romp and play.
A downy woodpecker is seen,
Flitting about beside the trail,
The river is rambling right along,
Singing to the hikers as it goes by,
Leaves are just starting to appear,
On the trees and shrubs,
They are tiny and look very frail,
The kids are really enjoying the day,
Hiking along, and sharing stories as they go,
One kilometre past the second water break,
We are at our friend's house where,
Hot dogs and juice are served,
We enjoy walking for wildlife,
Through the great outdoors,
Nothing else can compare.
