Winter Wonderland

Stepping out into the falling snow.
It's off to Blakeburn I go.
The journey involves a ten kilometre climb.
Please bear with me, while I make a few words rhyme.
All of creation is dressed in white.
In splendor, and true beauty, my hike is in delight.
Upon reaching the ball park, in Blakeburn
a picnic site is found.
Sitting on a stump I listen to the snowflakes
as they individually light upon the ground.
Enjoying my lunch.
I listen to leaves beneath the snow crunch.
As my dog rambles and plays.
Peering through the wind driven snow is
like looking into a maze.
In the driving snow, all types of images are seen.
My love for this winter wonderland is extra keen.
Snowflakes, gently caressing each shoulder.
Reminding me, I am the beholder.
Dressed in winter wilderness attire.
Mother Nature reminds me I must retire.
As natural forces increase the volume of
the howling wind driven snow,
I reload my survival pack and go.
Adjusting my pack, I step out, homeward bound.
Thanking Mother Nature for the intricate pristine
beauty that I have found.
In her glorious winter wonderland.
Yes! Felt and witnessed firsthand.
