With an Attitude of Trust

Inspired by: Joyce Meyer

2 Kings 1:10-15
"But Elijah replied to the captain,
'If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven
and destroy you and
your fifty men!' Then fire fell from heaven and killed
them all.

So the king sent another captain with fifty men. The
captain said to him, 'Man of God, the king demands
that you come down at once.'

Elijah replied, 'If I am a man of God, let fire come
down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!'
And again the fire of God fell from heaven and killed
them all.

Once more the king sent a third captain with fifty
men. But this time the captain went up the hill and
fell to his knees before Elijah. He pleaded with him,
'O man of God, please spare my life and the lives of
these, your fifty servants.

See how the fire from heaven came down and destroyed
the first two groups. But now please spare my life!'

Then the angel of the Lord said to Elijah, 'Go down
with him, and don't be afraid of him.' So Elijah got up
and went with him to the king."

Notice how the third captain went to Elijah. Although
the first two captains called Elijah "man of God,"
they were not being genuine -- God was not in their
hearts. The third captain also called him "man of
God," but he humbly begged for mercy. His attitude
showed respect for God and his power and saved the
lives of his men.
Effective living begins with a right attitude toward
God. Before religious words come to your mouth, make
sure they are from your heart. Let respect, humility,
and servanthood characterize your attitude toward God
and others.

With an attitude of trust, our hearts are not
troubled.
Because the Spirit of trust, our Lord Jesus Christ
is reigning from within our Christian hearts.

With an attitude of trust; our walk of faith is
spiritually enhanced.

Our attitude explains it all. With our
attitude being godly and Christ-like, we are
spiritual beacons to those around us.

In the book of John chapter fourteen, Jesus says,
"Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house
there are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have
told you.
I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I
go and prepare a place for you, I will come back to
take you to be with me.

You know the way, to where I am going."

A God-fearing Christian's attitude is positive; like
that of Christ Jesus.

We know that Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is preparing
our spirits for our heavenly dwelling place.

Jesus had an attitude of trust when he was led to the
cross of Calvary.

Psalm 125:1-5
Theme:
God is our protection. The mountains around Jerusalem
symbolize God's protection for his people.

1. Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount
Zion;
they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

2. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the
Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.

3. The wicked will not rule the land of the godly,
for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.

4. O Lord, do good to those who are good,
whose hearts are in tune with you.

5. But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord.
Take them away with those who do evil."

Have you ever known people who were drawn to every
new fad or idea? Such people are unstable and
therefore unreliable.
The secret to stability is to trust in God, because he
never changes.
He cannot be shaken by the changes in our world, and
he endures forever. The fads and ideas of our world,
and our world itself, will not.

Although the writer said, "The wicked will not rule
the land of the godly," often Israel had to put up
with evil rulers.
The writer was expressing what will ultimately happen
when God executes final judgment.
Human sinfulness often ruins God's ideal on earth but
that doesn't mean God has lost control. Evil prevails
only as long as God allows.

God's ability to restore life is beyond our
understanding.
Forests burn down and are able to grow back. Broken
bones heal.
Even grief is not a permanent condition. Our tears can
be seeds that will grow into a harvest of joy because
God is able to bring good out of tragedy. When
burdened by sorrow, know that your times of grief will
end and that you will again find joy. We must be
patient while we wait.
God's great harvest of joy is coming!

With an attitude of absolute trust in Christ Jesus,
Each God-fearing Christian knows that they are
following in the righteous footsteps of Jesus's most
holy and righteous ways.

Yes! focused on the glorious eternal kingdom of God.
With an attitude of trust.
Oh Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
